ABOUT SHEBUILD
What happens when an incarcerated mother is released from the world of prison that she has known for the past 24+ months? Her fantasies become her reality as she reunites with her children, is offered a great job, finds a stable home for her family, purchases a car, and all of these other perfect life strategies all in one day..........
SHEBuild began this vision of non-traditional thinking and employment opportunities for the re-entry of women in 2002. While working for a non-profit agency that provided parenting skills for mothers in Arkansas based prisons, Anika Dixon realized that these incarcerated mothers had hopes, goals, and dreams, like any mother, for herself and her children. Anika realized that checking YES to a criminal background check could derail a mother’s plans of successfully reentering society. It was time to think a bit differently!
SHEBuild was finally birthed August 2021 (yes....... 19 years later) with the goal of providing non-traditional strategies and employment for women that are reentering society in the form of residential and commercial construction. Now, when a woman returns home she will have the opportunity to provide a stable life for herself and her family through a career that will not judge her on her past, but on her current desire to have a better life.
